Grant of Planning Permission for Dolphin Park Improvements

I am delighted to inform you that Dublin City Council has granted full planning permission for our proposed improvements to our club owned Dolphin Park.

The improvements include:

1. Pitch levelling

2. Flood lighting

3. A gym

4. New dressing rooms / toilets

5. New multi-purpose rooms

This is the start of developing, modern, fit for purpose, facilities that will enable both current and future generations of players fulfil their potential and maximise their enjoyment from playing Gaelic football with Templeogue Synge Street GAA Club from under 5 well into adulthood. The growth in numbers playing with Templeogue Synge Street has been tremendous, however despite the best endeavor's over the last 10 years, our facilities have not kept up with our growth, but this Grant of Planning Permission is a hugely positive step to realign our facilities with our needs and our strategic aims to provide best-in-class sport facilities.

Genuine legends of the game of Gaelic football have played and trained in Dolphin Park.

And now we are looking forward to improving the facilities to create more legends in the future.

The facilities we are looking to develop are in their essence simple, the trick will be how they are used. We hope that everybody sees the benefits that these improvements for the thousands of players (Children and adults) currently playing and for the many multiples of that into the future. I hope nobody appeals this positive decision to An Bord Pleanala, we’ll know that very soon.

We have moved away for the idea of ever selling any part of this field to fund the development. This is going to remain a 100% sporting facility. So to make this happen, we will need our members help.

Financial help and volunteer help in various ways that we will outline in the near future.

We will set out the roadmap we believe is the correct sequence and put a financial plan around that roadmap. When we are finished we will have a facility here that all our members will be proud of and proud to have played their part in building. This is going to be great.

It’s been a long road and a lot of work by a small group of volunteers, led by Alan O’Brien, to get to this point. On behalf of all members I would like to thank Alan and the team for the determination and persistence with this project.

Is mise le meas,

Denis Boland

Chairman
